Emergency Storm Damage Response: Tree Service in Houston
We hired Charlie Nansteel to chip a large brush pile and grind 3 stumps on our property. We received a proposal totaling $550 and an estimated 2-3 week lead time. 6 weeks later, our brush pile was gone and our damage to our yard is truly shocking given the scope of the project (copy of proposal & unedited photos of the damage attached; additional details below.) Needless to say, we found Nansteel to be unprofessional, incompetent, and downright dangerous when a winch rope snapped in an attempt to remove a stuck truck, yet was attempted a second time. Would definitely not recommend.---------------After 5 weeks with little communication and one no-show, a crew arrived. A truck hauling a chipper was driven into our lot and got stuck, a winch was used to try to pull the truck out which snapped at least twice that I saw, leaving a crew member flinching away both times, and three hours had gone by with absolutely no progress aside from damage to my lawn. Once the truck was relocated, the crew utilized a bobcat to scrape the brush towards the chipper (the owner later admitted he was expecting his crew to pull the brush by hand to the street and that he was angry they brought equipment onto the lawn given such soggy conditions.) After nearly 7 hours, I saw how much damage was done and went out to speak to a crew member. I was told that Id need to talk to the main guy and he pointed to someone on site. I went inside waiting for them to finish cleaning up and suddenly noticed that they had all left without even speaking to me. I documented the damage (which included pieces of broken rope left on the ground, holes 6+ inches deep, extensive tire ruts including one on a neighbors lawn, a gatorade bottle, and a damaged tree.) I emailed Charlie and he did call me, ultimately saying he would send a crew to repair the damage. I sent an email to make sure I didnt misunderstand what he said he would fix and he never responded, but did send a crew so I assumed we were on the same page. They repaired most of the tire ruts and the holes, but refused to repair the neighbors lawn (first citing that several cars did the damage driving around their trucks, later citing that a UPS truck was responsible). He also refused to repair the areas under the brush pile (citing I didnt make the weather. God did that.)We proposed several options to further rectify the mess, to which Charlie flat refused at one point saying something very similar to Ive taken things to the Supreme Court before. I dont care if I spend $3000 to prove Im right. We did the job and you owe us the $550. If its not paid, youll hear from my lawyer. While Im far from a legal expert, I believe a matter such as this would be handled in small claims court or by a collection agency moreso than the supreme court and in my opinion this was used, at best, in an unprofessional manner and at worst, as an intimidation tactic. We hired a company to complete a fairly small job that we were actually planning to do ourselves. Needless to say, we wish we did.(For those who care, I did inform Charlie about the winch snapping twice and he genuinely did seem upset and appreciative of me telling him. Regardless of my dissatisfaction, I truly do hope he at least took steps to minimize the needlessly dangerous working conditions for his employees.)

Introduction Is My Tree Dying Or Dead Here S How To Tell And What You Can Do
When a severe storm passes through Houston, it can leave behind a trail of destruction, especially for trees. Strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning can cause extensive damage to trees, making them hazardous and unstable. In such situations, prompt tree service becomes crucial to ensure the safety of both people and property.
1. Prevention of Further Damage
After a storm, damaged trees can pose a significant risk. Broken branches, uprooted trees, or weakened trunks can easily fall, causing further damage to buildings, vehicles, or even people. Prompt tree service professionals have the expertise to assess the extent of damage and take necessary actions to prevent any additional harm.
2. Restoration of Safety
Storm-damaged trees can create hazardous conditions, such as obstructed roads or power lines, making it unsafe for residents and emergency responders. Immediate tree service can help restore safety by removing fallen trees, clearing debris, and ensuring that paths are accessible for vehicles and pedestrians.
Assessing and Mitigating Tree Hazards Post-Storm
After a storm, it is crucial to assess and mitigate any potential tree hazards to ensure the safety of both people and property. Trees can become weakened or damaged during severe weather events, and it is important to take the necessary steps to identify and address these hazards.
Assessing tree hazards involves a thorough examination of the trees on your property. This includes inspecting for any visible signs of damage, such as broken or hanging branches, split trunks, or uprooted trees. It is also important to consider the overall health and stability of the tree, as weakened or diseased trees are more prone to falling or causing further damage.
In addition to visual inspections, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance from tree service experts who can conduct a more detailed assessment. They have the knowledge and experience to identify hidden dangers, such as internal decay or structural weaknesses, that may not be immediately apparent.
Once tree hazards have been identified, appropriate mitigation measures can be implemented. This may involve pruning or removing damaged branches, reinforcing weak tree structures, or, in some cases, complete tree removal. The goal is to eliminate or minimize potential risks while preserving the health and aesthetics of the trees.
It is important to note that assessing and mitigating tree hazards should be done by qualified professionals who are trained in tree care and have the necessary equipment and expertise. Attempting to address these hazards without proper knowledge and tools can be dangerous and may result in further damage or personal injury.
Tree Removal: Ensuring Safety and Preventing Further Damage
When it comes to emergency storm damage response, tree removal plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both people and property. Removing damaged or fallen trees not only eliminates potential hazards but also helps prevent further damage to buildings, power lines, and other structures.
The Importance of Professional Tree Removal
Professional tree removal services are essential in emergency situations to handle the task safely and efficiently. Trained arborists have the knowledge and experience to assess the condition of damaged trees and determine the best course of action. They are equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to safely remove trees, even in challenging situations.
Minimizing Risks and Further Damage
Tree removal requires careful planning and execution to minimize risks and prevent additional damage. Before initiating the removal process, professionals identify potential hazards and develop a strategy to ensure the safety of surrounding areas. This may involve roping down branches, using cranes for large trees, or utilizing specialized techniques to control the direction of falling trees.
- Assessing the stability of the tree: Arborists evaluate the stability and structural integrity of damaged trees to determine if they can be safely removed.
- Proper equipment and techniques: Professionals use appropriate equipment and techniques to prevent further damage to nearby structures and landscapes during tree removal.
- Removing debris: After the tree is removed, professionals ensure that all debris is properly cleared to avoid any potential tripping hazards or further damage to the property.

Tree Trimming and Pruning: Restoring Health and Aesthetics
Tree trimming and pruning are essential practices in maintaining the health and aesthetics of trees. By carefully removing specific branches, these techniques help to restore the vitality of trees while enhancing their overall appearance.
Improving Tree Health
Regular tree trimming and pruning promote the well-being of trees by removing dead, diseased, or damaged branches. These branches not only detract from the tree's appearance but can also pose a risk to the tree's overall health. By eliminating these compromised branches, the tree can redirect its resources to healthier areas, allowing for new growth and improved vitality.
Enhancing Tree Aesthetics
Tree trimming and pruning also play a significant role in enhancing the visual appeal of trees. By selectively removing certain branches, arborists can shape the tree's canopy, creating a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing structure. This process can also help to open up the tree's crown, allowing more sunlight and airflow to reach the inner branches, resulting in a healthier and more vibrant tree.
Additionally, tree trimming and pruning can help to control the size and shape of trees, ensuring they do not encroach on nearby structures or obstruct power lines. By maintaining a proper structure and size, trees can coexist harmoniously with their surroundings, reducing the risk of potential hazards and property damage.
