Selecting the Perfect Tree from Houston Tree Farms
Large selection of trees and shrubs. Even though it isnt tree planting season I purchased cherry trees and a blueberry bush. They explained how to care for them until its planting time. The blueberry bush was huge and covered in berries. The trees were polluted with fruit. Ive been to many nurserys around home but not one compares in quality. Its worth the drive.
I have waited a long time to do this review. I wanted to get past the emotion of a very emotional situation and try to keep to the facts.I would never take anyone I loved and cared for this facility. I have had a loved one that was transferred due to safety/locked facility needs. He had dementia and brain damage, that put him in a category of patients with dementia and memory care needs. At first I felt bad for nurses. They are completely understaffed. I was there for 1-3 hours 6 days a week. One day I arrived and couldnt find my dad for about 15 minutes, no one knew where he was- there are only 2 halls. I finally found him in one of the bathrooms. He had made a mess of himself and the bathroom. He was irritated and embarrassed. It took a while for me to calm him down. The nurses and aides left me alone to deal with cleaning him and the bathroom. After I worked on it awhile, I insisted that they help. They were irritated and it took forever to get them to take over their responsibility. Often the bathroom off of the dining room was filthy and disgusting. When I brought it to their attention, they would say that it often was and was too hard to keep it clean.I supplied plenty of clean, new clothes, shoes and socks for his needs. Most of these were never used. I would find him in dirty, torn and often the same clothes. His shoes would go missing all the time- often disappearing within a day or 2 of me purchasing and bringing them to him. I was always told to fill out a complaint/comment form and they would be found. They never were. I was told that they would purchase him some more to replace them and they never did. All of his items were clearly labeled with his name. They told me that they regularly went through other rooms and returned things to rightful owners, my dads items never returned to him. His glasses and upper denture also had his name on them and were also items they disappeared. There were programs such as headphones to play music for clients that could get agitated in order to help them relax. If headphones got lost, they program was not continued. Earbuds are inexpensive, but would not be replaced and program would not continue. Searches for finding earbuds were never done as I was told them would be.One day before dinner I arrived to find my dad still sitting at the table from lunch. He was slumped in his chair, food from lunch all over him and the table also a mess from his lunch. He was so slumped that it had to be causing him pain in his bad back. I had to request help to get him situated and cleaned up. He had SAT THERE LIKE THAT MOST OF THE DAY WITHOUT ANYONE CHECKING ON HIM OR TAKING CARE OF HIM.These circumstances are just a few times that stand out, but there were many other situations that I could list.Last of all, when my dad passed away in this facility, I did not receive one call or card of condolence from any staff or the facility. I had been there 6 days a week for 9 months caring for my dad who had been there for 9 months. I considered us a team, a family and I did not receive any kind of contact. I was just called to come and pick up the last of his clothes- some of which had been boxed up were not even my dads. Needless to say, this last act of Peach Tree Place was in true fashion to the way they treated my father or myself in the 9 months of his stay.I dont care what kind of ranking they must be receiving from the state, this is not a facility that I would ever take my family to again. Ever.

When it comes to selecting the perfect tree for your landscape, there are several factors to consider. Choosing the right tree can enhance the overall look and feel of your outdoor space, while also providing shade, privacy, and other benefits. Whether you're looking for a tree that will thrive in the Houston climate or one that will complement the style of your home, these tips will help you make an informed decision.
1. Consider the Purpose
Before selecting a tree, think about why you want to add it to your landscape. Are you looking for shade, privacy, or aesthetic appeal? Different trees serve different purposes, so it's important to identify your specific needs and goals. For example, if you want shade, you might consider a large deciduous tree with a broad canopy. On the other hand, if you're looking for privacy, an evergreen tree with dense foliage might be the better choice.
2. Assess the Site
Take a close look at the site where you plan to plant the tree. Consider factors such as soil type, drainage, sunlight exposure, and available space. Some trees require specific soil conditions or prefer certain levels of sunlight. It's also important to consider the mature size of the tree and ensure that it will fit comfortably within the available space. Assessing the site will help you choose a tree that will thrive in its environment and avoid potential issues in the future.
3. Research Tree Varieties
Do some research on tree varieties that are well-suited for the Houston climate and your specific site conditions. Consider factors such as the tree's growth rate, tolerance to heat and drought, disease resistance, and maintenance requirements. Consulting with a knowledgeable tree professional or visiting a local tree farm can also provide valuable insights and recommendations.
4. Consider Long-Term Care
Before making a final decision, consider the long-term care requirements of the tree you're considering. Some trees require regular pruning, fertilizing, or pest control treatments. It's important to understand the ongoing maintenance needs of the tree and ensure that you're willing and able to provide the necessary care. Additionally, consider the potential impact on your landscape and surrounding plants as the tree grows and matures.
By following these tips, you'll be well-equipped to choose the right tree for your landscape. Remember to consider the purpose, assess the site, research tree varieties, and consider long-term care requirements. With careful consideration, you can find the perfect tree that will enhance the beauty and functionality of your outdoor space for years to come.
Factors to Consider When Selecting a Tree from Houston Tree Farms
When choosing a tree from Houston Tree Farms, there are several important factors to consider in order to make an informed decision. These factors will help ensure that the tree not only thrives in its new environment but also meets your specific needs and preferences.
1. Climate Compatibility
One of the key factors to consider is the climate compatibility of the tree. Houston has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters, so it is crucial to select a tree that can withstand these conditions. Look for trees that are known to thrive in the Houston area and are tolerant of heat, humidity, and occasional cold snaps.
2. Size and Growth Rate
The size and growth rate of the tree are important considerations, especially if you have limited space or specific aesthetic preferences. Consider the ultimate height and spread of the tree to ensure it fits well in your landscape. Additionally, think about the growth rate of the tree as it can determine how quickly it reaches its mature size.
3. Maintenance Requirements
Before making a selection, it is essential to understand the maintenance requirements of the tree. Some trees may require regular pruning, while others may have specific soil or watering needs. Consider your ability and willingness to provide the necessary care for the tree to ensure its long-term health and vitality.
4. Purpose and Function
Think about the purpose and function of the tree in your landscape. Are you looking for shade, privacy, or ornamental value? Different trees offer different benefits, so it is crucial to choose one that aligns with your specific goals. Additionally, consider factors such as leaf color, flowering patterns, and fall foliage to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your landscape.
5. Availability and Cost
Lastly, consider the availability and cost of the tree. Some tree species may be more readily available at Houston Tree Farms, while others may have limited availability. Additionally, factor in the cost of the tree, including any associated delivery or planting fees, to ensure it fits within your budget.
By considering these factors when selecting a tree from Houston Tree Farms, you can make a well-informed decision that will lead to a beautiful and thriving addition to your landscape.
