Tree Service in Houston: Prompt Storm Damage Mitigation

We moved into Bent Tree Fountains, which is a section of the larger Communities of Bent Tree properties, in 2021 . We thought this was going to be a good complex to move into, but things quickly started, quite literally, falling apart around us.The type of maintenance you get here is 100% The Landlord Special: everything is just patched up and painted over and never really actually fixed . The walls and ceilings were all cracked and got worse over time, there was obvious patchwork done to every single door in the unit, where the plates in the door frames had been moved and caulked over several times, because the foundation of our building was actively sinking as we live here . The ceiling bowed noticeably downward . There were bulging support beams on every door frame and wall, the floors were uneven and there was a noticeable downward slope going from the living room into one of the bedrooms . Every windowsill was crooked, and every window frame was as well . The doors barely closed properly, because everything in the unit structure was crooked . They asked $1,500/month plus average $150 for utilities for a two bed/two bath unit like this, and then had the audacity to raise our rent in 2022 to almost $1800/month before utilities, without properly addressing any of the structural issues. In 2022, the building had sunk so badly, that there were half inch gaps between the ceiling and walls in one of the bedrooms . The fix the complex decided to do ? Put wood over each crack and call it a day . If you get a unit here and think Oh, nice molding along the ceiling ! Dont be fooled . Theres probably a massive gap hidden underneath debarking trees . They raised the building up by its foundation 2 inches over the summer, and then the problems only got worse, more cracks, more uneven floors, shifting doors and windows, leaking pipes, etc.I cannot stress enough how little this complex cares about fixing their units, because I believe they know they are falling apart, and some buildings are probably on their way to being condemned if they were to ever be properly inspected . Its a shame too, because the layout and square footage of this unit is actually amazing, and a perfect fit for our family . Its just not worth the massive overprice and struggle to get anything fixed while living here, and we are not optimistic that management will change anything.

Possibly the best organized dollar tree, in the Eastside! Customer service was great as well.

When a storm hits, trees are often vulnerable to damage from strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning strikes. Identifying and assessing storm damage to trees is crucial in order to determine the appropriate course of action for mitigation and restoration.

Visual Inspection

The first step in identifying storm damage to trees is conducting a thorough visual inspection. Look for obvious signs such as broken or hanging branches, uprooted trees, or leaning trunks. Pay attention to any visible cracks or splits in the trunk or major limbs, as these can indicate structural damage.

Additionally, check for signs of decay, disease, or insect infestation, as weakened trees are more susceptible to storm damage. Look for fungal growth, dead branches, or holes in the trunk, which may indicate underlying issues that can contribute to storm damage.

Assessment of Tree Stability

After visually identifying storm damage, it is important to assess the stability of the affected trees. Look for signs that the tree has become structurally compromised, such as a significant lean, an uneven canopy, or exposed roots. These indicators suggest that the tree may pose a safety hazard and require immediate attention.

For assessing stability, consider factors such as the tree's overall health, root system condition, and the extent of damage to the trunk and branches. It may be necessary to consult with a professional arborist to accurately evaluate the stability of the tree and determine the appropriate course of action.

  • If the tree is deemed unstable and poses a safety risk, it may need to be removed.
  • If the tree is still structurally sound but has minor damage, pruning and trimming may be sufficient to mitigate the storm damage.
  • In cases where the damage is extensive but the tree is of high value, restorative measures such as cabling or bracing may be considered to provide additional support.

Remember, it is crucial to prioritize safety when dealing with storm-damaged trees. If you are unsure about the extent of damage or the appropriate action to take, it is always recommended to seek professional assistance from a reputable tree service company.
